A Love Affair With Handmade Jewelry: Black and White Element
The market has been over saturated with fast fashion over the last 20 years or so. Consumers see cheap prices and flock to fast fashion realtors to get merchandise. The problem is the quality is poor and after some time the item usually breaks/rips/fades. What’s even worse is you’re supporting these companies that pay their factory workers next to nothing. I’m not saying DON’T EVER SHOP FAST FASHION AGAIN, but I am saying invest in ethically made products (whether those products are made in Europe or the USA). Lately, I’ve been loving handmade jewelry because I adore having unique pieces.
I’m constantly searching for new brands on social media. Last February I was at a photoshoot for The Lexington Line, that featured Black and White Element handmade jewelry. Emily Zhang, the creator of Black and White Element, makes minimalistic, yet elegant pieces. Zhang’s customers embrace the uniqueness and idiosyncratic edge of her jewelry. B&WE makes earrings and necklaces with pearl accents and chain detailing. Recently, I was watching Instagram stories and saw a beautiful pair of earrings on Zhang’s account. Obviously I had to get them. The sterling silver earrings I purchased add a certain flare to any outfit with it’s green pearls and textured interlinking ovals that create a dangly effect.
