14 Valentine's Day Activities for Singles

Valentine’s Day is the most dreaded day of the year for single people. A day filled with romance, flowers, kisses, etc. However, who said that Valentine’s Day was only for couples? It’s a day to show LOVE! Here’s 14 things that you can do this Valentine’s Day to show love for others and yourself.

Bake some goodies with your besties.

Cupcakes, brownies, cookies— oh my! Baking your favorite treats with your favorite friends is always a great time to spend time together. Exchange your funniest moments, cherish your time together, and enjoy the yummy treats, as well!

Send your parents some flowers.

It’s always important to honor your first ever valentines. If you don’t live at home, send your parents a gift to show your love and appreciation for them.

Write in your journal.

Self-love is the most important love of all. Self care doesn’t always mean putting on a face mask, it also means getting in touch with your emotions and addressing your innermost thoughts and feelings. Take Valentine’s Day as a night to really explore the beautiful person that you are. Pinterest has some great journal prompts if you’re feeling stumped!

Get dressed up and treat yo self!

My personal favorite thing to do in my free time is getting dressed up to do nothing special (I’m a Libra with a Leo rising— what did you expect?). Go on a shopping spree! Take yourself out to get your favorite meal! It’s always a good feeling to look cute and treat yourself to your favorite activities.

Bible study.

For my religious pals, take this night to get closer with God. There’s no better feeling than feeling God’s love! Brush up on the word, and journal your responses. A cozy night with some calming gospel, you, and God is the perfect combo.

Community service.

Show your love for others! Research local organizations with values that align with yours and give back! My personal favorite community service initiatives include tutoring/mentoring the youth and working at soup kitchens.

Have a spa night.

Who doesn’t love pampering themselves? Do your FULL skincare routine tonight! Use your favorite serums, scrubs, and masks. Not only will you feel awesome, but your skin will look great too! #claymaskselfiesFTW, Bubble baths, and hair masks are always necessary too!

Do a mini photoshoot.

Like I said, I’m a Libra Sun and Leo Rising— I’m always here for the #extra looks. Beat TF out of your face and put on your fave fit and get some flicks for the gram! Maybe you’ll attract a valentine for next year ;)

Write your loved ones (or yourself) a love letter.

Words of Affirmation is one of the five love languages. Write a letter to yourself, or one of your loved ones, describing how special they are and why they’re so important. It’s always important to tell people that they’re loved!

Meditate.

Take this time to be at peace. Sit, set the mood with some lights, lay out your crystals, and breathe. Aforementioned, self-love is the best love. You must take care of yourself before giving yourself to others! My favorite crystal is rose quartz, and coincidentally it stimulates the heart chakra. This stone is great for inspiring the beauty in yourself and others.

Do your birth chart.

As you can see, I’m super into astrology. For the astrology antics out there— astrology isn’t only horoscopes. It’s very interesting to do your birth charts, and seeing how the planets affect who you turned out to be. In order for your birth chart to be the most accurate, you’ll need your birth date, birth place, and time of birth. Once you receive your chart, it will give you a detailed description of what sign and house the planets were in at your exact birth. If you compare your birth chart with family and friends, you can see what planets have compatible placements! For beginners, Cafe Astrology, Astro-Seek, and Co-Star will be your best friend!

*Co-Star is only available on iOS— sorry Android users!

Read a book.

Is it just me or does our generation not read as much as they used to? Go to your local bookstore, Barnes and Noble, or library and choose a book that catches your eye. Some me time with a great novel would be the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day. Some books I’ve been reading lately are Becoming by Michelle Obama and What A Time to Be Alone by Chidera Eggrue. These books will definitely help in making you feel better when you’re alone!

Make a vision board.

2019 is our #SecureTheBag year! Make a vision board to have a physical representation of all your goals and dreams that you want to come true. Vision boards are a great motivator and way to manifest positive energy towards your goals. This is also a great idea to do with a group!

Go on a mini adventure.

Do something you’ve never done before! An activity that is both enriching and stimulating is great for lifting your spirits. If you’re not super adventurous, you can go to an escape room or maybe ice-skating. As long as you’re getting out of your comfort zone, you’re in the right ballpark.

I hope you all have some more hope for today! Love isn’t only for significant others— spend today showing love for yourself, friends, family, and the community.

xx
