Cinching Waists with Belts

Itty-bitty waists are all the rage and can be easily achieved with a belt of your choosing. There’s a plethora of styles you can decide to accessorize with such as, chain belts, layered belts, wide belts, circle buckle belts and utility belts (and so many more).

Chain belts are the perfect hardware to cinch your waist this summer. These beauties were seen at Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Altuzarra and Marine Serre FW 19/20. Chain metal links are an ideal way to toughen any outfit up. It can be paired with blazers to add some flair to your business casual attire, as well as flirty summer dresses. Here’s a cheap layered chain belt then can get you started from Urban Outfitters.

If you’re looking for something playful try layering your belts. You can have fun with this trend by mixing colors, shapes and patterns. Brands such as, Nicole Miller, Tibi, Longchamp and Elie Saab included layered belts in their collections for fall. The wonderful part about this trend is that you don’t have to go out and buy anything; I’m sure you already have two (or more) belts that can be stacked together in your closet.

Wide belts bring me back to 2011. Everyone was obsessed with wide belts… or at least I was. This silhouette for belts is fairly popular and we seem to always gravitate back to it. This year it’s no different and wide belts were seen at Zimmerman, Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant and Shrimps. Wide belts are a staple for any wardrobe and I recommend adding this one to your collection.

Circle buckle belts are a must this season. I got a wooden circle buckle and woven belt from Sezane and it’s my most worn item this season so far. I like how the Sezane belt combines two trends in one (woven raffia and a circle buckle). Circle belts were seen at Chanel, Elie Tahri and Burberry this fall.

Utility belts are an update from the fanny pack trend that has been dominating streetwear. The design has a sleeker look to it, but it’s still functional like the original fanny pack. These belts were seen at Dior and Sportmax. The utility belt is a vacation essential.
