Welcome to the Bustling Bazaar
This summer expect to see girls dressed like they’re ready to go to a Moroccan marketplace. We’ll be seeing embroidery, draping and fringe details elevating garments such as maxi dresses, skirt sets, baggy pants, crop tops and short shorts in warm and earth tones. Fabrics like printed stretch jersey (Chloé), woven raffia (Ulla Johnson), and cotton open work (Chloé) were seen on the runway. Essentials for this trend would be intricate patterned motifs, sleek draping, cut outs and an assortment of jewelry.
There were a couple brands that captured this middle eastern inspired trend for spring 2019. Altuzarra included mesmerizing skirt sets with fringe-like sequins, dreamy cotton work dresses ideal for beach days, leather cut out crop tops and colorful prints.
Meanwhile at Ulla Johnson, which was inspired by Herero tribeswomen of Namibia, we saw batik dresses in vibrant prints. Embroidery, quilting and cotton openwork was prominent in the collection as well. Ulla Johnson accessorized with woven totes and wicker-like baskets.
Cholé truly embodied this trend not only with their spring collection, but with their Nomade camp. At the start of April fashion influencers were invited to a neutral lovers dream getaway. Set in the Moroccan desert, bloggers experienced what it’s like to be a nomad, and of course they were in head-to-toe Cholé. The collection was filled with draping dresses cinched with rope belts, beautiful flower and paisley-like patterns and garments adorned with fringe.
So let’s bring desert looks to the city streets this season.
