Summer Camp but Make it Fashion

Let’s go to camp, and no I don’t mean the MET gala theme. Millennials have been reminiscing on their childhood and this summer camp trend is proof.

This trend consists of tie dye, seashells, hair clips, Teva’s and Bermuda shorts.

Tie dye isn’t limited to t-shirts this season. Prada created lovely bags from the Etiquette to the Sidonie exploding with color. But tie dye has gone neutral too. We saw soft watercolor on Louis Vuitton and Issey Miyake taking shape in mohair sweaters and baggy pants at SS ‘19. At MSGM, tie dye biker shorts are all the rage. If you’re ready to relive this messy childhood activity, do it with style.

Jewelry is a great way to enhance any outfit and this season we should accessorize with the sea inspired pieces. From puka shells to starfish, there’s a lot to choose from. Lately, I’ve been wearing my puka shell anklet from Mango and a starfish necklace from IHUSH NY to make any outfit instantly ready for a day at camp.

Having a bad hair day? No problem here. Stock up on hair clips, pins and barrettes because they're all the rage. Some of my favorites include Shrimps, Valet Studio and Reliqua Jewellry. The more colorful and kitschy the more camp appropriate.

Teva has been creating collaborations with a couple of designers as of late, bring this camping essential into the high fashion world. Prada was inspired by Teva they had logo embossed sandals in red and black. Meanwhile Anna Sui collaborated with Teva to create rainbow colored soles and included straps in a snake pattern. These sandals provide comfort with taste.

I recall being embarrassed to wear Bermuda shorts in middle school, but now with all these updated versions I’m than excited to get my hands on a pair. Sally Lapointe included cream sequin shorts that hit right above the knee paired with a double ring belt. And a couple vinyl versions made an appearance too. Faded plaid Bermuda’s were seen at Maryam Nassir Zadeh, which give us middle school vibes with a modernized design.

Are you ready for summer camp?
