CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist 5000 made their highly anticipated NYFW debut last week. 5000 Spring/Summer 2025 collection was displayed in a tucked away spot on the Lower East Side in the Marble Cemetry, where models roamed around the open grass field under white umbrellas. Taylor Thompson, designer, is currently based in San Francisco; therefore, the collection pays homage to the iconic Mabuhay Gardens, a cornerstone of the West Coast punk scene. Mabuhay Gardens was a music venue in San Francisco's North Beach, where legendary punk bands like the Dead Kennedys, The Avengers, and Black Flag played. The collection channeled punk fashion showcasing elevated black, burgundy, and plaid suiting and metallic fabrics.

There was a metallic burgundy corset overlayed with a bulky utilitarian cargo vest, a black blazer with one silver metallic sleeve and a black blazer with a pinkish-red lamé floor-length sleeve, and metallic oversized culottes. These designs were an interesting fusion between punk and club kid, and there were several great statement pieces throughout the collection.
