Cotte D’Armes S/S 25
Cotte D’Armes played around with two central themes for the Spring/Summer 2025 collection: traditional church women’s apparel and elevated contemporary athleisure. This collection was a luxury unisex line featuring both utilitarian and elegant styles. Clarence Ruth, designer of Cotte D’Armes, was inspired by the women he saw at Sunday service when he was growing up. “Witnessing their unwavering faith and devotion, coupled with their impeccable attire, left an everlasting impression on me. Their presence and grace, seamlessly intertwined with their spiritual commitment, have profoundly influenced this collection,” said Ruth’s show notes. This collection aimed to bridge “the heritage of the past” with “the innovations of the future.”
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection featured gingham fabrics in a graceful silhouette and a casual button-up and shirt set paired with a fitted red athleisure top, representing the two main themes Ruth was working with. Some other pieces shown were a beige suit with kitschy buttons all over including a utilitarian zipper detail on the pants allowing them to turn into shorts, a full denim look with a deconstructed top, bubble skirts and a bright green snakeskin print suit. The looks were styled with Clara Gonzalez hats, Byidol purses, Burkindy and Daisy Manson jewelry, and Dainese gloves.
The Cotte D’Armes brand is known for its distinctive approach to ready-to-wear, merging military-inspired elements with a utilitarian aesthetic. Clarence Ruth’s impressive body of work features collaborations with top industry names like LVMH and TOMMY HILFIGER. His recent standout project, the Mercedes F1 x TOMMY HILFIGER x Clarence Ruth collection, highlights the influence of the BIPOC community on American fashion by merging iconic branding with Ruth’s innovative design vision. Additionally, Ruth was chosen by Disney Create 100 to craft a unique polo gown in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary.
