Get Your Chung On!
Since I was 15 years old I’ve been obsessed with British icon Alexa Chung. It all started with It. It was most likely the first fashion book I’ve ever read and by now I’ve read it more than 20 times; I’m not exaggerating. Growing up I did things differently than others and a lot of the time I got backlash for it, especially when it came to clothes.
“If only I’d known it was OK to have different tastes to others…” was one of the lines that stood out to me back then. It was reassuring to know that I wasn’t the only one. In my teen years this book introduced me to great films that had impeccable costumes and cool music, which I’ll be forever grateful for.
But now in lieu of a new book by Chung, I’ve replaced my obsession with her clothing line that first premiered in 2017. Her British style mixed with asian influences, preppy vibes, and a dash of rock-n-roll is pretty much the aesthetic of her brand. I’m so happy that I finally own a piece of her collection and this yellow satin crepe dress embodies Chung with it’s unique details. Styling can be quite versatile since you can layer it by wearing a turtleneck or t-shirt underneath to transition this summer piece into the harsher winter months. I can’t wait to see what Chung does next!
